Biography:
Leni Ward has done it alone. Using money inherited from her grandfather, she set up a home studio and, over the course of a year, recorded what was to become Body.
This intense, multi-layered work is a true solo effort, on which Leni is the composer, producer, recording engineer and sole performer, playing 11 instruments over the course of the album. Mastered by Tim Debney (Thom Yorke, Low, Lily Allen) and released on British independent label Tunica Adventitia Records, this melding of electronic and more traditional instrumentation pushes beyond stylistic boundaries.
“After I graduated, I found myself with this inheritance money and I had to make a decision. I could have put a deposit on a house; created a good solid foundation from which to start a good solid career. Instead, I moved to a new city, rented a place, built a studio inside it and gave myself a year to write and record.
